Heroic Hardware!

It's Saturday again, and that can only mean one thing - it's time for some new, original, FREE shapes for you to download!!

Ok, so it's not exactly heroic. Cut me some slack, it's hard trying to think up a snappy title EVERY week! :)

These hinges and keyholes are perfect for embellishing your cards and scrapbook pages! Imagine how great they'll look on a mini-book or album to give it that distressed feel! Why not use them to create a spooky album for your halloween photos. Can't you almost hear them creaking as you open the cover?

As ever, I have cut these myself before uploading, to make sure the files work as they should! Thanks go out to Gloria who suggested this weeks theme! :)


Again, these templates will be "live" for 1 week. Next Saturday, they will be taken down, and new ones will replace them. Don't forget, if you have any requests, pass them on! I can't promise, but I will take suggestions into account when planning future templates.

These files may not be uploaded to a group, forum or website for sale or redistribution, or shared among individuals. They are expressly for the personal use of each person that downloads them from this blog.

There are 8 files this week, so I have put it into a zip file to make downloading easier. After saving it, open in the usual way, and drag the template out onto your desktop or wherever you wish to save them.

There are 3 versions of each template:

• A printable version (PNG files) that you can import into a program like Word, then resize, print, cut out and use like any other paper template (these are NOT Word files, so don't use File/Open in Word! Use Insert/Picture to bring them into a Word document).
• An SVG version which can be imported into the Sure Cuts a Lot program and then cut out on your Cricut.
• A DXF version which is Craft Robo friendly, and ready to be imported into your Robomaster software (I'm not a Robo user, so if there are any problems with this, please let me know!)

Simply right click on the appropriate button below, and choose "save link..." or "save target..." and save your template!

Any feedback on the templates is more than welcome, and if you have any suggestions for possible future templates you'd like to see, please let me know! If you make anything using one of the templates, please post a link to it here so that others can be inspired by how you've used them!

Video Tutorial - Alcohol Inks 101, Part 2

Part 2 of the video on Alcohol Inks, with 3 more techniques for you. The two small tags at the front of the picture above were created using the Dragging Technique from this video.

I suddenly remembered while typing this post that I'd made an ATC a long while back that uses two of these techniques - Tortoiseshell acetate and colouring embellishments! Here it is:

Groundhog Ornament!

Another day, another ornament card. I have tweaked the design a little, mostly by changing the hanging loop to a scalloped design. Yesterday's cards were stamped, today I used papers cut on my cricut to decorate this one. I hope you like it!

Gifts in a Jar!

This is a great book of gifts to make that are presented in a glass jar. There are some great recipes in here, I hope you find it useful!

Ornament Cards

That time of year is coming around again, and my mind started turning towards Christmas cards. I'm sure that many of you are very organised and have already finished yours, but me, not so much! LOL

I took one of the ornament shapes that were on my blog a week or so ago and welded two together to make a card blank. I've decorated a few by stamping and embossing in white, then inking over the top. I hope you like them!

Takeout Box!

It's Saturday again, and that can only mean one thing - it's time for some new, original, FREE shapes for you to download!!

These takeout boxes are perfect for small gifts for any occasion! They're great for wedding favors, trick-or-treat candies or even a fun advent calendar like the one I showed yesterday! Hang them from the tree with ribbons for an extra festive touch! I have also included a video tutorial on how to cut the box and guide using SCAL and how to fold it.

Use the folding guide to locate the 4 pierce(or mark) points to mark the base of the box. Once these points have been accurately marked, follow the fold chart below (outside of box is facing up):

Included below is a video tutorial on how to cut and fold the box. If you're a Cricut owner who is new to SCAL, take a look at it, it gives you some idea how SCAL can expand the range of things your Cricut will do! If you find the video a little fuzzy, you can view a full-screen version here.

I'll take an Advent Calendar - To Go!!

I was thinking about Advent Calendars the other day, the way you do, and I had this idea for one - 24 mini takeout boxes with a gift inside each one to open every day up to Christmas.

Aren't they cute? I'm going to hang mine from the Christmas tree, I think they'll look great! :) Once Christmas is over, I'll just stack the boxes inside eachother and use them again next year!

Oh, and if you're wondering where you can get 24 mini takeout boxes, you'll have the answer sooner than you think! :)

These tree baubles are perfect for cards and scrapbooking pages! I've cut mine in cream, red and green, but you can use whatever cardstock suits your project! Why not cut them extra large and use them to decorate a wall or window?

Here is a sample I have cut with the Cricut to ensure that they cut ok.

A new feature!!

I have added a Google search facility to my blog, to help you find exactly what you're looking for! Just type in the item you want to find and click on search. Google will then make a dedicated search on my blog and give you a page showing the results.

There's quite a lot on my blog now, so I hope you find it useful when searching for older projects or items!!

I've been thinking about word books for a while, and how they're constructed. I thought with this one, I'd try something a little different, to make the lettering really "pop", I hope you like it!!

I've made my pages orange and black, but you can cut them in whatever cardstock or papers you wish!! This mini-book is just perfect for scrapping those cute halloween photos I know you're all going to take!

I don't have access to my Cricut this week, so if anyone would care to cut them and post a comment to let others know that they cut well, I'd be very grateful! Click on the images to see a larger view.

Not my work but...

... I went along to the monthly stamp club at Your Pad or Mine? in Garden Grove. I met a great bunch of people, ate some free candy (always good!), made a card using twinkling H2Os (which I'd never tried before) and demonstrated a couple of stamping techniques!

Every time they meet, they pick a theme for the next meeting, then make cards to swap. This months theme was "Fall", and though I only had a couple of hours, I raced home to make some ATCs to swap. Here are the cards I got in return... a real mixed bag of techniques and styles! Aren't they great? There's even 1 all the way from Australia!

Guest Designer

A while ago I was invited by Julie from Scrapbook Sisters to be a guest designer on their blog. After quite some time (actually, a lo-o-o-o-o-ng time, lol) I finished the piece - A box and accordion book. It's called "The Line, the Cross and the Curve" and is loosely based around our journey through life. It's Saturday again, and that can only mean one thing - another awful pun on my blog! No, I mean it's time for some new, original, FREE shapes for you to download!!

Today's might seem a bit of an odd one, a goose! I was sitting in my friend's back yard where they have a statue of a goose on the lawn, trying to think of a design for this weeks freebie, I'm sure you can imagine the rest!

This shape is actually VERY versatile, and will work wonderfully on baby/children's pages or cards, kitchen/cooking themes and even Christmas!

Video Tutorial Part 2 - Bind-it-all Basics

Here is part two of the video tutorial, this time covering the basics of binding projects using the Bind-it-All, and in particular, a simple method to punch projects that require more than 6 holes!
