Nursery Wrongs 2

Some of you may remember that a while back I produced a mini-book of nursery rhymes with a modern twist - warning against the "evils" of the modern world in the same way as the traditional rhymes were often cautionary tales set around events of their day. (See it here).

I have now produced a 2nd volume, 7 more adapted poems with a sting in their tail (or tale for that matter!). I hope you like them, click on an image to see a larger version. :o)

EDIT: I want to take a second to address the comment made by Phree regarding this book. Thanks for your comment Phree :) I haven't presented these rhymes in my introduction as being funny, though if people are entertained by them, I am happy about that. I describe them as having "a sting in their tale", and certainly they were written from a cynical viewpoint, and were intended to have a core of truth to them. I think perhaps "satirical" might best describe them. Dictionary.com describes satire as "the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc. " - I think that pretty much sums up what I was hoping to achieve with both these and the first collection.

Amazing work, but I found it to be more a sad testament to the state of society today - there is far to much harsh truth in this for me to find it funny. Never the less thank you for sharing it.

These are absolutely amazing - even better than the first ones IMHO. I love the way you have illustrated them and I love the modern twist to the tale. In fact I loved the wrongs so much I made John come up and listen while I read them out and he thinks they are very clever too XXX

Brilliant - and as the proud keeper of the first book of Nursery Wrongs, I can tell you peeps that those piccies won;t be doing the fab artwork justice. Excellent Dan....and if you pop over to Ink on my Fingers, there is a special award waitin for you xx

I don't want to leave any confusion behind. Dan, I think you understood my first comment perfectly. Satire was the word I was searching for in my brain and could not find when I wrote the comment. I love your book, I think this is a very gutsy piece of work - well done for publishing it. I wish more could see it and perhaps be moved to try to make our world a better place, one that does not inspire this kind of satire.

That was both a totally amazing piece of craftwork and a very clever and very accurate piece of social commentary which I totally loved. If you ever decide to try and market these to the bookshops, put me down for one!
