Video Tutorial - Creating Word Books in Inkscape

Following several questions in various groups I belong to, I've decided to make this video. There are several ways of making word books like these, so I stress that this is my way of doing it, others may do it differently! :) Although I mention Sure Cuts a Lot frequently during the video, obviously you could save your files as DXF and use them to cut on the Craft Robo or related machines.

If you want to see a full screen version of this, click here.

It was a *really* tight squeeze fitting this into the 10 minute limit, so I had to remove the title page and opening introductory comments, so forgive me for that! :)

I LOVE THIS DAN!! YOUR SO SMART! I was going to buy these premade yesterday at my LSS. but it was small. Now I can make it! WWOOHOOO..

I have to ask, what program are you using to make your videos?

Thanks for taking time out to do this!

Thanks folks :)
Melissa, I use CamStudio for my videos, and I host them on Photobucket, cos the quality is much better than youtube or google video.

Many thanks for a wonderful tutorial Dan!I haven't got to grips with Inkscape yet, and still thinking about SCAL. I have both a Craft Robo and Cricut, and the SCAL looks so much easier than Robomaster..plus I hadn't realised you can cut larger things with SCAL...silly me! I guess I will be buying SCAL ASAP!! Thanks again.

The tutorial really is very good, but I am having a terrible time trying to copy and paste. It just won't let me copy anything - so obviously I can't paste anything. Am I doing something wrong. I copy and paste in other programs all the time, so am not sure what is going on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan, I have been watching all your videos, love them. I'm new to a word book and have a couple questions. What do people do with them and how do you put them together? Thanks Nancy

Hi Dan,
I loved your tutorial. I've run into a problem where I can not "break apart" the letters. I do what the tutorial says, but the center of the D never does anything. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Thank you so much for this. I literally installed Inkscape and SCAL this afternoon and, with nothing but your tutorial to guide me, created and cut a word book this evening. I can't thank you enough for this.
