Happy New Year!

Once again this is a "no challenge" week over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog.  Instead, we're celebrating the new year by looking to the past and celebrating old favourites from our crafting stash!

I had to think long and hard about this one, there are so many things that I could have nominated as an old favourite - certainly this man from the Winged Things 2 stamp set is one of them.  In the end though, I decided that my #1 old favourite has to be the Distress Ink colour palette, they're still my go-to product for adding vintage-style colour to my projects.

I started out by applying Distress Paint directly to my background card panels, dragging the dabber tops in a straight line to simulate wood grain.  I used some of Tim Holtz's layering stencils to add the background designs with Gathered Twigs Distress Paint, applied with an ink blending tool.

Flighty man was stamped, painted with Distress Ink pad and a water brush, cut out and fixed in place.  Finally I added the computer-printed text, mounted on black card.

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday season and that 2014 will be an even better year for you than 2013.  Happy New Year!

Supplies I used included:

Of course, the great thing about an online retailer like Simon Says Stamp is is that their store is open 24/7, 365 days a year, so why not head over there and treat yourself to a little holiday gift?

Merry Christmas from Simon Says Stamp

Don't forget, Simon Says Stamp have a great Facebook page too!  Check them out here!
