"Alive" Mini-book

I've the idea for this book floating around in my head for quite some time. The words are from the Psychedelic Furs song "Alive". I'm not a big fan of theirs, in fact this is the only song I know by them, but I like it a lot! :)

I set myself the challenge of using no adhesive on this project. Instead I painted each page with a layer of molten beeswax, placed the text on top then painted another layer of wax over it. Finally I used a scraper to remove excess wax and buffed it to a sheen with a lint-free cloth. I love the way the wax has made the paper on the text go translucent!

You may have seen beeswax techniques demonstrated using a Melt Pot. I don't have one of those, so I placed the wax in the top section of this oil burner, and it worked just fine!

If you look carefully you can see that I've used at least 2 recent freebie files. I'm pleased with the end result, I hope you like it too. Click on an image to see it larger.

LOVE the mini-book! Well done! I love the idea, too. I think I'm going to think about some of my favorite songs and perhaps try this same thing.

And DOUBLE THANKS for the oil burner idea! I've wanted to use beeswax for a long time, but I don't want the burner and want just an easy, non-electric, not much clean up or maintenance type of set up and this would be just the trick!! If I can bring myself to use it, I already have an Elephant shaped oil burner that I could use!!

Once again you astound with the simplest, yet greatest of ideas! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

What a beautiful book Dan. I love the wax technique. I blew up my melting pot, so the oil burner is a good idea. Thank you.

I love your mini book! I also use songs as inspiration for books and cards. I've yet to try the oil burner with beeswax - it's a brilliant idea. Dan, could I ask you who is the stamp by on the 'some days are wide as the ocean' page, the Coronation Street type rooftop stamp? I just have to have one.
