Merriment in May!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is "M".  I love themes like this, there's so much wiggle room to come up with something that's all your own.  I've crammed a whole host of Ms into this weeks design team piece - Merriment paper, milk cartons and given the Christmassy tone, a whole heap of merry!  (And yes, I know it's a little early, but planning ahead is a good thing, right?)   What M inspirations have got your creative juices flowing?  Why not make a piece of your own for the Challenge - you could be the winner of a $50 voucher to shop at Simon Says Stamp.

The sizzix milk carton die was my starting point, obviously.  I've had it for a while but not yet gotten around to using it.  It's perfect for an Advent project, they are large enough to fit in a decent treat yet small enough that they can be easily hung on the Christmas tree or piled up in a nice bowl ready to be opened as the holiday approaches.

The cardstocks by Tim Holtz are the perfect weight for this die, thick enough to be sturdy but thin enough that they cut easily and fold crisply.  I cut my milk cartons from the Merriment and Holidays Past pads.  So that I could use them year after year I didn't glue them closed.  I punched small holes with my crop-a-dile and used seasonal brads or twine to seal them.  Tinsel twine is particularly great for this, the photos don't do justice to just how sparkly it is!  You can't see all the brads I've used here but I've included more in the supplies list below.

There are so many number stamp sets out there and any of them would be fine for this.  I used a set from Mama Elephant and used a circle punch to cut them out.

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

Very cute idea! If you're already thinking about Christmas in May, that means you'll really be able to enjoy the holiday in December because you'll be ready!! :)
