The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Patchwork", so time to put on your thinking caps and let your imagination run wild! No thinking cap? Well, put on that brown knitted one, you know the one I mean, it's in the bottom of your wardrobe. Remember? You must, you wore it last month to that farmers market, I said it brought out the colour of your eyes. Ah, now you remember :) Make an entry for this week's challenge and you'll be in the draw for a $50 shopping voucher! :)
I decided to decorate a cheap-as-chips basic wooden frame from my friendly neighbourhood Swedish furniture superstore. I didn't want to present an empty frame so I stuck this Russian lady in it. Strictly speaking she's just an innocent bystander and not really part of this project, so don't pay her any mind!
The width of the frame was the perfect size to make a patchwork of inchies to cover it. There is a slight gap between them so I gave the frame a coat of Black Soot distress paint first. One of the inchies is covered with some ruler ribbon from Tim Holtz and the rest were stamped and coloured with Distress Inks. Of course any patchwork needs stitching, so that was the last job to be done. I made some faux stitches with a black Distress marker to finish it off. I must say I'm really please with this piece and will definitely have to find a place for it on a wall somewhere!
Supplies I used included:

Great project and really fun post :D
Love the patchwork effect edging to your project. It's very complimentary to the dramatic image in the centre.
I just wanted to apologise and say thank you for leaving a comment on my blog for the 'Anything goes' challenge even though I messed up, lol! I'm fairly new to challenges and first time ever for multiple entries for one project. I obviously got in a bit of a twist over the links. I've edited it in now anyway even though its probably too late. Thanks again.

Dan...your idea of creating this patchwork frame is awesome! I LOVE IT! I have a lot of leftover wooden frames and this is a very cool way of using some of those! :) Your use of bold color is unmistakable. I love it and I love the way you've created and arranged these paper blocks! <3 Candy
This is so fantastic Dan. You really sold me on buying myself a faux brand machine too. The inchies around a frame - brilliant take on the challenge!
