A couple of my favourite things

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Stamping All-stars", giving the opportunity to create something using your favourite stamp/s. I found it impossible to limit myself to just one!  I guess that if I was really forced to choose it'd be the David stamp from Tim Holtz, but I've used that just recently so I decided to choose my favourite type of stamp instead - large face stamps.  The phrenology head and skull are both from Stampers Anonymous and oddly enough I have the wood mounted versions of both (very rare for me, I usually take them off the wood and mount them on EZ mount foam).

Started with a square of white card and applied distress inks to create the graduated background
before overstamping with the honeycomb and flourish designs with Versafine ink (chosen because it stays wet for quite a while and I wanted to smudge it with my fingers before it was fixed and dry).

The two heads were stamped on white card and then cut out and fixed in place.  I think the sunglasses look like they've been cut from black card but that is just the photo, they were actually drawn on with a black promarker!  I used a white pen to add the two dots where the arm joins the front, typical for Ray-ban type glasses.

As a finishing touch I matted onto black card and then fixed the whole thing to my white card.  That's all she wrote! :)  I wish more companies would bring out large faces like these, they're so versatile and give the opportunity to get creative with them and reinvent them as something new.  That's why they're my favourites! :)

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)
