It's Trick or Treat Time!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "Just add pearl".  I thought I'd go the extra mile this year and really push the boat out to make something for the (few) trick-or-treaters that we get where I live, so I made mini milk cartons into spooky candy holders to give out on Halloween.

Luckily for me, Tim Holtz has more than a few stamp sets that lend themselves perfectly to this blood-curdling season.  (Note to self for future Halloweens - Aged Mahogany Distress Stain makes excellent blood spatters!).  My milk cartons were around 2.5 inches wide, perfectly sized for several of the halloween stamps I have in my collection.

For extra shimmer I dusted everything with Perfect Pearls Pewter and also stamped some spider webs with Versafine clear ink and then brushed them with Perfect Pearls to highlight the webs.  I used an ink blending tool with Gathered Twigs ink to age all of the elements and on the playing card I used a Distress Marker to colour the "13" directly on the stamp.

So, there you have it, I'm ready for all the ghouls and ghosts that will be hammering down my door.  I say "all", there isn't really much of a tradition of trick or treat here in the UK so there won't be many.  Last year I got 2 - I've made 5 of these containers so I hope that's enough!

Supplies I used included:

If you would like to try making some of these yourself, I've included links to the template for the carton in SVG, DXF and PNG form.

Please remember you are only allowed to download these files for your own use and can not share them or distribute them to others in any form. I spend a great deal of time creating my designs, please respect the terms under which they are shared.

These files may not be uploaded to a group, forum or website for sale or redistribution, or shared among individuals. They are expressly for the personal use of each person that downloads them from this blog.

There are 3 versions:
  • An SVG version which can be imported into the Sure Cuts a Lot, Ecal or Make the Cut program and then cut out on any of the machines supported by SCAL, Ecal and Make the Cut.
  • A DXF version which is Craft Robo friendly, and ready to be imported into your Robomaster software (I'm not a Robo user, so if there are any problems with this, please let me know!)
  • A PNG version which can be printed from a graphics program or Word, then cut out with scissors.
Simply click on the appropriate button below to download the file!

If you make anything using one of the templates, please post a link to it here so that others can be inspired by how you've used them!

These little treat boxes are so cute! I just love the idea. We don't get many trick-or-treaters here so it will not be too hard to make these for the few we do get. Thank you for the template.
