Say "Hi" to Dave and Flo

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is "We Love Stamps!". This is an excuse for you to dig out your absolute favourite stamps and create something and enter it into the challenge to be in the running for a $50 shopping voucher at Simon Says Stamp!

As those of you who have found your way here from the Challenge Blog may already know, these two are my favourite large face stamps.  I have to limit how many times I use them because I'd hate to get bored with them!

One thing was clear when I started making these note cards, I wanted to showcase the lovely Market Square Emporium papers.  I love the vintage style colour pallete that they use and the shop signs are just so cool!  For the male card, I used a panel of the striped design overlaid with a ripped section from the reverse side.  I cut out the Cafe sign from another sheet and fixed it in place.  To give a better focus on the wording I applied my Archival Black ink pad directly to the edges of the paper to give a shadow effect.  The face was stamped separately, coloured, cut out and fixed in place before adding a shadow with Promarker.

The female card was created in a similar way, except that as her face was a little smaller I applied the torn strip to the bottom of her neck so that her head didn't appear to be floating in mid air!  I used a Festive Berries distress ink pad applied with an ink blending tool to add a little colour to her cheeks.  I'm loving the colours of these papers, keep an eye out for them, you'll be seeing them here again! :)

Framed by Love!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is "Love Notes". You can be as off-the-wall in your interpretation of the theme as you like, so why not put on your thinking caps and see what you can come up with!  Create something and enter it into the challenge and you will be in the running for a $50 shopping voucher at Simon Says Stamp!

As Valentine's Day is fast approaching I certainly went with the "love" on this framed piece but I also included a nod to "letters" with the postage edge on the central panel.  I started out by stamping and colouring the leaves and bird on the frame mount.  The heart was cut from a vintage book page and then edged with fired brick distress ink and fixed in place.

I cut the postal edge from white card and fixed a panel from the Seasonal Stash to it, using another panel for the background in the frame mount.  I stamped the "14" and then stamped it again on white card, colouring the numbers, cutting them out and fixing them to the main panel which was then fixed in place.  I added the newsy bird, calendar page and ticket.

There you go, that's my craft room all loved up and ready for the 14th :)
