What do you say?

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "What do you say?"  It's been a while since I wrote anything or made a mini-book, so this week I took the opportunity to write a kind of morality tale, in poem form, and make a little book out of it.

There are far too many pages to say what I did on each of them but I will include a supply list at the end of the post!

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

A Handbag???

Those of you who know your Oscar Wilde hopefully get the reference of my post title! This weeks theme on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "Hey Girl". I don't often make deliberately feminine themed projects, so this challenge made a pleasant change, something different to wrap my head around.  And, lets face it, what could be more girly than a handbag (or purse, depending what side of the Atlantic you're on!).  I decided to go with a fun movie-night theme, right down to creating the mini movie posters you see in the background of the photos!

I started out by cutting out the black purse template from white card and colouring it all over with Fired Brick Distress Stain (great for quick colour coverage!).  After that came all the stamping - all of it from the At The Movies stamp set.  I stamped the film numbers onto card and then glued them to the film strip ribbon, using the tiny attacher to fix it to the purse.

One quick word about the popcorn container.  I initially stamped it using Distress Markers to colour the stamp, but I didn't like the way it was turning out, so I did it again, this time using distress inks to stamp with.  I stamped it 3 times, once in pale brown, again with just the red area and finally with the black part.  It's difficult to get the 3 images in exactly the same place, but I think that's the charm of this technique.

Btw, see that photo I took where Bogey and Bergman are framed by the purse handles?  I can't figure out if that's romantic or just plain cheesy, lol  I'll leave it up to you! :)
