Just a bit of messing about...

I decided to have a play today, with some stamps I haven't had much of a chance to use so far, and with some techniques I don't use much or haven't tried before.

This first tag makes use of some stamps from Green Pepper Press that a friend got me for Christmas, and some stitch stamps from Autumn Leaves, neither of which I have had much of a play with. The tag was coloured with distress ink pads, then the sun was stamped using the painted mask technique I have mentioned in previous posts. I recently bought a bottle of gold Glimmer Mist spray, so spritzed the whole thing with that (to within an inch of it's life, to be honest!).

This next tag looks a bit washed out, but that's partly my poor photography I'm afraid! I'd always wanted to try a technique I once saw in a Tim Holtz video, where he melted beeswax in a melt pot and painted it onto his card project. I don't have a melt pot, but thought one of those oil burner thingies would do the job just right, and it did! Put the beeswax in the top, light the tealight, and Bob's your uncle! If you don't know what I'm talking about, I mean one of these:

I hope you like the tags! :o) Click on an image to enlarge it.

Excellent tags - your usual high standard. The gold goes really well with the red. Very striking. I'm impressed by the improvisation of a scented candle pot :)

What a great idea, I can't quite bring myself to buy a melting pot as I'm not sure I'd use it.

Fabulous work Dan - and I am really glad I spent all that money on my melt pot with adapter to melt my wax in .... NOT! I am kind of guessing your wax did n't take four weeks and a heat gun before it was thin enough to spread LOL. I love the colours on these tags XXX
