Paris Memories

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is "Journey", so I created a page for my art journal inspired by a few hours I spent in Paris a couple of weeks back on my way back from Italy.  Why not create something for the Challenge and you could be the winner of a $50 voucher to shop at Simon Says Stamp.

This page is 8" x 5", which is the size of the pages in my Dylusions journal.  I started out by blending Salty Ocean distress ink onto my background and then dripping a lot of water on it.  I let it set for a second and then dabbed it off with paper towel.

The Eiffel Tower, man and postal background were all stamped in Salty Ocean distress ink.  I stamped the man again on typing paper, cut out his face and hand and then applied them to my page.  The larger man, group photo and text scrap were all taken from the French Industrial paper stack.  I love how several of Tim Holtz's stamp images are available in different sizes now, (or on paper as here) - it really let's you play around with ideas of scale, which would be difficult if they were only in one size.

Finally I stamped the fleur de lys and the Eiffel Tower - Paris stamps with archival black.  I love the two tone effect from stamping and blending with the same Salty Ocean ink, which gives more than just one tone.

I should really have taken some photos while I was in Paris but it didn't even cross my mind!  To be fair though, I have been there several times so I wasn't seeing the sights for the first time.  Having said that, I did grab a snap of a fancy cake shop window that I was drooling over! :)

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)
