A Tissue. Bless You!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Tissue".  As ever, my first instinct is to reach for the Tim Holtz products (and I did use some of his tissue tape on my tree) but I thought I'd show some great washi tapes by other designers today.  My ground and sky are both designs from Kelly Purkey.  Aren't they great?  I love how you can line up the dots on the sky to make it look like a continous pattern!  I'm sure you must have some thing tissue-y lying around that you can use to make an entry for this week's $50 prize challenge.  Yes, that bit there, just next to your scissors :)

I started out by covering my background with the two Kelly Purkey tapes.  I took a piece of scrap white card and covered it with Tim's "commute" tissue tape and then drew a tree on the reverse side and cut it out.

I used the Hero Arts "printer's alphabet" stamps for the text, cutting it out in a speech bubble shape after stamping.  I edged it with Gathered Twigs distress ink and fixed it in place.  The face came from Tim's "Classics #5" set, stamped in Archival Black and coloured with distress inks.

The moustache was cut from black card using the Memory Box moustache set.  I hand drew the line from the mouth to the speech bubble (also colouring part of the mouth black to make it look more open, as if it were speaking).

I fixed the "3" in place using 2 brads and finally mounted the whole piece onto card that I had coloured with Aged Mahogany distress ink.

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

I was busy looking at your beautiful birch tree and didn't realize how clever you were with your washi tape background! Cool design!

I do not guess the background was done with Tissue Tape , very clever. Love the tree too and as usual your quirky use of a face image. Wonderful bold design. Tracy x

Hello Dan, I love all the texture that you created by using designer washi tape. I would have guessed that there were many stamps used to create this background. That tree is very cool! Thanks for sharing.
