Good things come in little packages

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "A little stamping".  As a stamper I always prefer my stamps to be HUGE, the bigger the better so this was an interesting challenge for me.  (In truth, the challenge also allows for big stamps too but I decided to go with the small thing).  Tim Holtz makes a set called Tiny Textures so I figured that would be perfect for my background.

I decided to create my background based around 1.25" square tiles and started by using the TinyTexture stamps to create the various patterns you can see on my card.  I particularly like the green, black and red argyle type design which was created by stamping multiple impressions of the diamond stamp in various colours.

The bottle is Wendy Vecchi's All Bottled Up stamp, masked and coloured to link with the divisions in the tiled background.  The "courage" text is actually taken from the word "encourage" on Tim Holtz's Going Somewhere stamp set - I placed sellotape on the stamp so that only the "courage" part of the word would make an impression.

I'm still loving my GelliArts printing plate and had a play with the packing tape technique and included some of that in my tiled background too.  The guy was inked and then I used a baby wipe to remove some of the ink from his hat and coat so that some colour would show through better.  After stamping him I cut him into tiles to fit in with the background and then used contrasting colours on each section.

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

Don't forget, Simon Says Stamp have a great Facebook page too!  Check them out here!

Hey Dan! What a very cool "take" on this challenge! I love your idea about creating a patchwork background using snippets of stamps! It looks awesome. Wendy's gentlemen looks really cool on top of them all! <3 Candy
