X "marks" the spot!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "Anything Goes".  I'm finding more and more that I'm really loving the "Anything Goes" challenges, they're kind of a non-theme, which gives me the chance to put on some music, completely empty my head and have a good old inky play!

A friend and I arranged to make and swap some bookmarks so that was the inspiration here.  I will be laminating them but I photographed them before that stage in case there was a lot of glare from the plastic coating after they'd been laminated.

I've really been enjoying making tags lately, particularly because the 6x3 manilla tags have such a lovely smooth surface for inking and stamping on.  These were just as much fun, though I started out with plain white card, I guess part of the appeal must lie in the tall, narrow form factor.

This was also the first time I'd tried out my GelliArts printing plate.  I used Claudine Hellmuth acrylic paints, they're really full of pigment and spread beautifully on the printing plate.  I definitely need to practise more with this technique, but I'm encouraged by the early results!  One GREAT thing is, between prints the plate wipes clean so easily and quickly so you can get on with making the next print, which, after all, is the fun part that you want to be focussing on!

I used circles and the stitches stamp from the Classics #6 set to link the 3 bookmarks stylistically - I love how the stitches seem to have sewn together the skull's mouth!

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

Don't forget, Simon Says Stamp have a great Facebook page too!  Check them out here!

A fabulous trio - what a riot of colour, and that stitching is so cool - especially across the skull's mouth, I agree! Completely in love with these... And what a fabulous blog header - is that new, or am I just really unobservant?

Great tags and the stamped stitching on the skull works a treat. I've recently tried my hand at gelatin printing and the whole acrylic paint thing is something I still need to come to grips with. I'm not sure what brand of paints to stick with and I was curious about how the Studio ones would work, so I was glad to see you had tried them and got nice results.
