Video Tutorial - Aperture Name Card in Inkscape

Following a couple of email requests, I decided to make a video showing how to make one of these cards in Inkscape. Soon after, someone else in one of the Cricut groups made a video on the same topic (great job Heidi!), so I changed my plans slightly. I'm still making the card, but I've included some stuff on how to use rulers and guides and a couple of methods to manipulate text so that the letters join up to make a continuous word.

Dan, Thank you for this tutorial! What is the difference between "union" and "combind"? Don't they do the same thing? Or do you use them at different times for different things? I really learned a lot today.

So... I just stumbled across your blog today and I am astounded with all of your ideas. I would love to get my sticky little fingers on half of the templates you offer here, what do we do to get a hold of all the old ones? Are they available somewhere without having to cause you too much trouble???

Also, what is Inkscape?

Dan: I am so greatful for all your hard (fun) work. I too kept changing my paper size each time I opened inscape. Now I do not have to. Thank you I have saved the target's for these video's for later reference. If you archive these video's, will the target still pull them up or should I do a written document?

Hello. When I get to the final stage to union the name in the oval, I click path union, but the name does not change to the color of the card to show it has unioned. I am making sure there is overlap, but it is not working. Any ideas? Email me if possible stephenbenham at hotmail dot com Thanks.

Thank you for the tutorial. I appreciate your time. I am in need of some help if you (or anyone else) can help me.

I am having some trouble when I select text and click on "Object to Path" it says at the bottom "No objects to convert to a path in this selection". I try to reclick it, draw a box around it, & restart the program/try again to get it to work but it will not. (In the tutorial, I am at the point where I am trying to put the little swoop between the S and next letter).

Thanks for the help! :) Jill
