The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Say it with stamps", all about words, text, messages or quotes on your projects. It's pretty rare for me that a ready-made quote stamp says just the right thing and I frequently cut them up and recombine them to make new phrases. This time though, I opted for a set of alphabet stamps to get my message across.
Those of you who popped on here last week for a look at my blog hop project will remember that I decorated the cover of my Dylusions Art Journal from the Simon Says Stamp Art Journal kit. This week, I decided it was time to christen it properly and set to work on my first journal page.
The policemen are all stamped on a single layer so there was much cutting out of post-it note masks for this one! I stamped them with Memento ink and then coloured them with Promarkers. I hand drew the checkerboard edge to the page and distressed it a little with some Gathered Twigs ink.
I used one of Tim Holtz's new layering stencils for the bottom of the page. The stripes are all the same width so after applying the first colour you can just rotate the stencil and reink with a different colour. Hopefully the photos below will help you get what I mean. Finally I stamped the lettering to finish off the page.
Supplies I used included:

Dan...I always love your art! Your bold colors make such a statement. This journal page is so expressive. Love your sentiment and your individual man in the stripes to illustrate your words. Very clever and effective. <3 Candy
Fantastic! Love how you put this together with the unique face in the crowd!
I always look forward to seeing your artwork. Your style speaks to me. I love this piece. It is so eye-appealing and effective.
Terrific project Dan!
Beautiful creation as always. Love the unique face and sentiment. :)
Fabulous unique piece Dan, perfect sentiment combined with your stamped image , after all your clown images are always unque, steamed alone or within a group piece like this. Love how you used the layering stencil. Great bold colour choice too. Tracy x

Such a cool piece. I love how you've turned a simple caption into a really important, striking element of the piece and tied it all together. Wonderful!
This is so cool Dan! Love all that stamping of the individual man, together with the great sentiment.
