For the star that you are!

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Embossing", whether it be by embossing folder or with embossing powder or even hand-embossed on a light box, now's your chance to get creative and join in with this week's challenge, you could win $50!!

As I mentioned a couple of weeks back, I'm such a fan of stars and I decided this week to let them really take front and centre on this project.  The quality on ProvoCraft's embossing folders is so great, you always get a crisp, clean impression, none moreso than these bold graphic stars.  All I had to do was swipe them with a Fired Brick distress pad and they really pop off the page!

I used Fired Brick as my only colour here, keeping a stark graphic monotone look to the fore, even on the sunburst effect that leads the eye in to the central panel.  As the final finishing touch I embossed Tim Holtz's subway sign on white card and swiped it with a black archival inkpad to highlight the raised lettering, cutting out the letters I needed for my card.

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

Really neat card, Dan. It really grabs the attention with the bold red and white color combo. The stripes and stars look amazing...red against the white cardstock. The black letters literally pop off the card. <3 Candy

Hi Dan, the bold graphic stars really do take centre stage here and I love the fired brick ink which also works beautifully with the stars and the white. Tracy x
