By the pricking of my thumbs, something stormy this way comes!
The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "S is for...". I gave it plenty of thought and there are just so many things beginning with S that I could have gone for! In the end I decided that I wasn't going to limit myself and threw a whole bunch of S things into this piece :) To top it all, I even listened to a piece by Satie while I worked! :)
The starting point was the shadow box frame, which I painted with white gesso and sanded to give a smooth stamping surface. The inner and outer edges of the frame were lined with tissue tape. I stamped the stars and highlighted the circular ones with a splat of stormy sky stain - see how S-y this all is? :)
The background for the main panel was stamped with the sun rays and then I splatted more stormy sky stain in several places. I stamped more of the circle-stars and splatted them with the same colour, cut them out and fixed them in place to tie in to the splats I'd already made on the background.
David was stamped and then coloured and shaded with various strengths of stormy sky and chipped sapphire distress stains, applied with a water brush. I really love the monochrome feel of this and I have to say that it's a lot cleaner looking than the things that I usually make! I know, I'm a bit of a mucky pup, but it's too late to change now! :)
Supplies I used included:
Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)
Don't forget, Simon Says Stamp have a great Facebook page too! Check them out here!

I love the look on David's face, but then I couldn't resist checking out the you tube link and was totally blown away, not only by the music, but also by your artistic interpretation of it. Just wonderful, thank you so much for sharing. Maddy x
A veritable feast of S's Dan! Your post reads like a tongue twister ;-) I wore most of my first ever attempt at splatting - What about you? No wonder you were feeling creative the music you shared is inspiring.
