Studio 490 in the big city

The theme over on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is "Studio 490", the range of products designed by Wendy Vecchi.  Wendy herself is joining us for this weeks challenge, how cool is that?!?  As I said over on the Challenge Blog, I had "The Apprentice" floating around in my head while making this, I'm not quite sure why.  I don't even know if it was the Alan Sugar or Donald Trump version (I watch both, sad, I know, lol).

I started out by stamping my background with the text block from Tim's Schooldesk stamp set in Gathered Twigs distress ink, then applied Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Peeled Paint, edging with Gathered Twigs.  I used the Subway embossing folder to apply texture to the background, before applying a light coat of Gathered Twigs to the raised parts, followed by a light brushing of white gesso.

I stamped the text block again, this time on a manilla tag, then stamped the dapper man (my absolute favourite of Wendy's stamps!) on top with black Archival ink.  I stamped him again on printer paper (with the text block too) and cut out his face, fixing it in place on top of the tag, then cut out the man and part of the text.

The numbers were idea-ology numerals, covered with tissue tape and held in place with long fasteners.  The metal piece in the bottom corner was embossed with the cuttlebug gears embossing folder and then dabbed with black paint, before buffing and sanding it.

Supplies I used included:

Our ever-generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp is offering a $50 gift voucher as the prize again this week, just make something for the challenge and you could the winner! The winner will be chosen at random from those who enter the challenge, so why not give it a try? At the very least why not head over to the Challenge Blog to see how the other members of the design team have interpreted this weeks theme! :)

Don't forget, Simon Says Stamp have a great Facebook page too!  Check them out here!
