I've been wanting to use one of these 3x3 shadow boxes for a while, so I took advantage of today's Sunday Stamper clown theme to use one. I apologise for the photo, I think I had the camera on a bit of an angle - the frame really was square! Don't even get me started on the dotty shadow around the edge, that wasn't intended either, LOL
No new techniques here, just the old faithfuls of stamping, distress inking and promarkery.
While I was uploading this post, I had another idea for the Sunday Stamper clowns theme - a fun way to use the new Tim Holtz David Head stamp! It only took 5 minutes to knock it together, but I'm really inordinately pleased with it! LOL Feedback welcome, as ever, click on the image to see a larger view! :)
He'z certainly a bit frightening, but a handsome devil all framed up! Great piece!
ReplyDeleteOK....Dan my friend...you have managed to creep me out X 2!!! Shreeekkkk....garish clowns, and that scary David face as a garish clown!! You are so creative, but those are 2 stamps that I will definitely leave alone!! David as a clown does make me laugh though. Hey...my new distress inks came today...yup, all 12!!! off i go to play. Hugs, Rockin Robin Caldwell

Fascinating! I looked at the two other Davids and it's amazing how different they all look. Did you draw the clown makeup? Very nicely done!

OMGoodness! You sure do like that david stamp! :) Have you ever thought of sending an email to Tim Holtz with pictures of all your david creations? He would probably love to see what people are making with his products 8)
ReplyDeleteAnother one here who finds clowns a bit frightening but I love what you've done with both these pieces.
ReplyDeleteToni :o)
Love the David tag, but I'm a little bit scared of the clown in the frame LOL :D

Can't say I particularly like either of your clowns . . . not because you didn't do a great job - you did as a matter of fact, but because I hate clowns with a passion. Always have, always will! Clowns are just plain creepy in my book. Sorry, Dan . . .
ReplyDeleteYes I agree David the Clown is really fab. Funny how some very quick makes can just come together perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThe frame is a bit spooky but thats the nature of clowns I think. Love the composition.
ReplyDeleteThe altered David is so much better than the original. I really dont find the unaltered version appealing at all but this is so clevery done. Great thinking behind this. I like the unpredictabile twists in your work.
just amazing what you have done and I guess clowns are like marmite Dan, you are very clever in the way you use all your stamps to different levels xx
ReplyDeleteLove the David clown take! :) So creative.

Bring on the clowns! *Ü* Not sure what peeps are scared of but we all have our phobias. A memory of a wonderful clown many years ago gives me happy thoughts - very swarve. I LOVE the frame Dan. TFS. ~Glen~
ReplyDeletelove how youve made the david stamp into a clown...very clever.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love that you are so inventive with the same stamps ... makes me think I need to do the same and think of new ways to reinvent the stamps I have.
ReplyDeleteAlways brilliant!

ReplyDeleteI find some clown images spooky but your tag is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteLove what you've done with David - a great way to get more mileage from your stamp. I'm amazed how many people hate clowns - they must have all watched that Stephen King film LOL
ReplyDelete2 fab pieces Dan, I particularly love the way you've used 'David'. I quite like the dotty bit round the box frame ;)
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
Crumbs! that is amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt will show my age but when I was a kid we LOVED Bozo the Clown show, and we loved seeing them at the Circus! I can't imagine being afraid of a clown unless you count in D rated horrow movies or the one on Buffy the Vampire Slayer! We had great clowns at the skating rink and at great Birthday parties.
ReplyDeleteWhat has changed, anyway Lovr the work Dan! Thanks!!
